Nothing Island
Nothing Island
**At the Very Beginning:**
Looking for boringly long print instructions? Haha, go search in the boringly long assembly guide!
This is Version 1.1, uploaded in cyberbrick format. Known issues have been fixed, and the assembly instructions and JSON file have been updated accordingly.
When Acrab handed his resignation letter to the manager, all living beings were stunned.
No life form could comprehend his madness. As a racer, his salary was quite substantial, and his status was privileged. So what drove him to resign?
"I'm going out to see."
Nothing Island floated silently in the void.
He turned, and his figure vanished beyond the horizon.
No one knew where Nothing Island lay. As an Island, it was only known that it was surrounded by the Sea of Spacetime. But no life form wanted to venture into that sea; in fact, they couldn't.
Because of the perimeter wall.
Nothing Island possessed a peculiar force field. Any life form could effortlessly ascend the perimeter wall – easier even than climbing stairs. They could gaze forward, but crossing over was absolutely impossible. Life forms had fully developed the perimeter wall – many office workers passed through here daily. But that was all.
On Nothing Island, the timeline was chaotic, even distorted. Yet Nothing Island maintained a complete temporal ecosystem. Time flowed slowest along the central axis, and slower on the east side of the axis than the west – some even suspected that at a certain point on the axis, time stood still. Of course, no one could verify this; this point was called the "Time Black Hole," though it remained mere conjecture.
Within this complex temporal ecosystem, however, everything operated with perfect order. Geometric lines intertwined, negating all acceleration here. All life forms moved with meticulous precision, like parts of an intricate machine running on an exquisitely harmonious program. Naturally, due to the "slow zones" along the central axis, the left and right sides were largely independent, with little traffic between them.
Of course, there were unattainable things. Beyond the orderly, grid-like towers and the dense, gray-scale filled workstations, a hyper-geometric column of moving bodies raced along tracks on the coastline. Time there flowed rapidly, making the bodies streak past like lightning. The passage of time on the coastline was also fluctuating – because the intervals between each moving body touching the perimeter wall were never the same. Nearly every life form on Nothing Island had seen these moving bodies and dreamed of riding upon them, to be one with the wind. But the perimeter wall blocked all access.
No one knew how Acrab breached the perimeter wall. Some life forms had even thought him insane, intent on dashing himself against it. But Nothing Island's chaotic SRFID (Super RFID) system could no longer detect Acrab. SRFID detection was unaffected by a life form's vital status. The only explanation was that he had breached the perimeter wall.
Nothing Island required no sunlight; lights illuminated it constantly. Yet the rhythms of life were still somewhat controlled. At the inland end, whenever a life form approached their gray-scale filled workstation, they could always see the desolate opposite end of the Island. It was like an ultra-long time-lapse photograph, except every frame was identical.
Everything seemed poised to change, because...
On the east side of Nothing Island, a life form was growing. Its color was unprecedented on Nothing Island – an Island otherwise filled with grayscale. Intriguingly, this life form grew simultaneously on both sides of the central axis. Soon after – it was impossible to measure time precisely – a circular, rotating object took shape around the center.
And then, the Time Black Hole theory was verified.
But the interesting thing was, it was verified precisely because it had been broken.
On the distant eastern coast, an object seemingly outlined by circles and straight lines, yet far transcending such simple geometry, stood suspended in the air. No one could truly grasp its dazzling colors or detect its state of motion, yet this very fact confirmed the existence of the Time Black Hole. Folklore swirled with countless myths about this thing, but one point was consistent: using their atrophied imaginations, they described it as a thing of ultimate beauty.
Vitality – this word bloomed for the first time on Nothing Island.
Like fish in a pond – though what to call this thing was uncertain – leaping spiritedly yet silently from the water.
No life form could explain why. No life form could believe the facts. Yet the facts were undeniably clear.
To be continued.
