The Story Behind the Design

Almost exactly six years ago, I created a meme about direct drive extruders that took the 3D printing community by storm. Based on a hilarious, real-world photograph taken in Sosnowiec, Poland, that meme circled the globe, reaching an audience of over 2 million people and bringing smiles to the faces of makers everywhere. Today, six years later and just in time to celebrate April Fools' Day, I decided it was time to bring that legendary joke into the physical world. I have transformed that classic meme into a fully functional 3D model: an actual, working filament waste "poop" collector!

A Tribute to Anycubic and the Kobra X

Many newer makers might not remember, but back in those days, having a direct drive setup was considered an absolute luxury. Most desktop printers were strictly running standard Bowden setups. But even back then, Anycubic was stepping up, taking what was considered extravagant, high-end technology and making it accessible and affordable to the masses.

Today, they have done it once again with the highly anticipated Kobra X, offering an incredibly affordable and reliable alternative for true multicolor and multimaterial printing. Because of their continuous push to democratize 3D printing technology, I am dedicating this meme tribute specifically to Anycubic and the Kobra X community.

Printability & Features Despite being a parody, this is a highly functional piece of hardware.

• Zero Supports Needed: The model is engineered from the ground up to print beautifully without any supports whatsoever.
• Multimaterial Ready: It is designed as a multimaterial print featuring a filament waste deflector (the chair and manhole) and a high-capacity collector bin.
• Easy Assembly: It is incredibly easy to print and even easier to put together.
• Adjustable Alignment: The poop bin features a clever 1-DOF (Degree of Freedom) adjustment system, allowing you to dial in the perfect alignment for precise waste collection. We're looking at a 99% collection success rate (I promise with my fingers crossed, lol!).

File Information For the absolute best results and out-of-the-box settings, it is highly recommended that you print directly from the provided .3mf file. However, for the tinkerers out there, I have also uploaded the raw .obj files in case you want to make your own custom modifications.
