PROJECT DESCRIPTION

SPINGEAR ID CASE is a functional 3D-printable card holder designed for the standard ID-1 card format, featuring a set of fully movable gears on the back.

This is more than just a regular card holder — the rear mechanism turns the case into a mechanical fidget. The gears can be rotated with your fingers, providing an engaging and satisfying way to interact with the case.

It combines a practical everyday item with a fun mechanical mechanism.

🪪 ID-1 STANDARD

The case is designed for cards using the ID-1 standard, commonly used for payment cards, identification cards, access cards and many other types of cards.

Standard ID-1 card dimensions:

• Width: 85.60 mm
• Height: 53.98 mm
• Standard card thickness: approximately 0.76 mm

The holder is designed around these standard card dimensions.

⚙️ MOVING GEAR MECHANISM

The main feature of the project is the gear mechanism on the back of the case.

Several gears are mechanically connected and can rotate and interact with each other.

You can turn the gears with your fingers and use the holder as a small fidget / mechanical desk toy.

The gears are designed to provide both a visual mechanical effect and an enjoyable tactile experience.

🔒 FUNCTIONAL CARD HOLDER

The case securely holds an ID-1 size card while keeping the gear mechanism visible on the back.

• Bottom layers: 4
• Supports: Not required
• Brim: Optional
• Cooling: Standard PLA cooling

A 0.4 mm nozzle with a 0.20 mm layer height is a good starting point for this project.

Because the model contains moving mechanical parts, good printer calibration is recommended, especially extrusion flow, first-layer calibration and dimensional accuracy.

🔧 ASSEMBLY

The model is designed for straightforward assembly.

After printing, assemble the components according to the model structure and make sure the gears can rotate freely.

Once assembled correctly, the gears should move together and provide the intended fidget effect.

If the gears are too tight, check for excess material, first-layer expansion or dimensional inaccuracies before modifying the model.
