Long ago, within a cathedral now forgotten by the world, every prayer, promise and farewell was recorded in a great book.
The final keeper of the sanctuary wrote with a single feather said to remember every word that passed through it. But one winter night, the cathedral bells fell silent, the keeper disappeared, and the great book was left unfinished.
The quill remained.
Years became centuries. Roots crept across the abandoned floor, leaves unfolded around its base, and the architecture of the cathedral began to grow through the feather itself. Gothic windows opened between its delicate vanes, while baroque foliage curled around its edges as though stone and nature were completing the final page together.
It is said that the Last Quill no longer writes with ink.
Instead, it preserves the words that were never spoken: apologies that came too late, names no one remembers, promises carried in silence and stories that ended before they could be written down.
When moonlight passes through its cathedral windows, those forgotten words briefly appear upon the walls of the ruined sanctuary—then disappear before dawn.
The book may have been lost, and its keeper may never return.
But as long as the Last Quill remains standing, no story is ever truly forgotten.
