EMD GP40 Diesel Locomotive 1:48 Static Assembly Model

The EMD GP40 is a 4-axle diesel-electric locomotive built by General Motors' Electro-Motive Division between November 1965 and December 1971. It has an EMD 645E3 16-cylinder engine generating 3,000 hp (2,240 kW).

This model is created based on publicly‑available online documents and images. Limited by reference materials, it is not a perfect replica of any specific prototype; it is more of a composite design.

1. Features visible interior details of the cab and engine compartment.

2. The carbody shell covering the engine is printed in a flat lying orientation. Surface texts and patterns are customizable (the “YGG” marking can be modified or removed). The shell can also be opened to display the internal engine assembly.

3. Use standard support structures for the underframe and bogie supports. Bogie supports are difficult to remove. For rails, use hand drawn supports only at both ends (PETG compatibility not guaranteed). The uploaded file is already pre set.

4. Two complete sets plus multiple test prints have been successfully produced on printers from three manufacturers (including the S1 MAX) with filament from three brands. Minor dimensional deviations may occur. Glue is required for certain parts. Handrails and balustrades must be glued.

5. Most housing components are printed vertically. Layer height and print colour can be adjusted as required.

6. The underframe and rails can be printed as a single piece on 350 mm build volume printers such as the S1 MAX.

2、发动机对应的车厢外壳采用平铺的打印方向，可以自定义表面的文字/图案，（可以将我的YGG字样修改或删除），另外也方便打开展示内部的发动机。

3、底架（underframe）和转向架（truck/bogie）的支撑，请使用普通支撑，转向架的不太好拆，铁轨请使用手绘，只支撑两端即可（PETG不确定），我上传的配置已设置好。

4、我使用了三个厂商的机器（包括S1 MAX）和三个品牌的耗材打印了两套成品（若干测试）都顺利打印，有较小偏差，部分需要胶水，（扶手和栏杆一定需要胶水）

5、壳体大部分都是垂直打印，可根据需要修改层高颜色。

6、底架和铁轨，对350mm平台（如S1 MAX）可直接一体打印

Required Tools & Non Printed Parts

1、Nippers (needle‑nose pliers),

2、L-shaped hex key with rounded long end, 

3、Glue.

4、30 pcs M3×12 flat‑head screws

5、4 pcs M2×6 screws.

Part numbers consist of plate identifier plus sequence number. Parts marked L and R are handed‑side specific: Left corresponds to the left‑hand side when the locomotive cab faces forward.

Contains many small‑size components. Do not allow children to play unsupervised.

Bogie installation involves moderate difficulty, while other sub‑assemblies are simple to fit.
